Professor Xiaoliang Sunney Xie, American Chinese, biophysical chemist, member of the National Academy of Medicine and American Academy of Arts and Science, Foreign Member of Chinese Academy of Science, Mallinckrodt Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, Director of Biomedical Pioneering Innovation Centre at Peking University and Director of Beijing Advanced Innovation Centre for Genomics at Peking University.

Major Academic Achievements

Professor Xiaoliang Sunney Xie is the founder of single-molecule enzymology, one of the founders of single-molecule biophysical chemistry, and a pioneer of coherent Raman scattering microscopy imaging and single-cell genomics. As a single-molecule biophysical chemist, he has the courage to break through the boundaries of disciplines, from physical chemistry, biophysics to biochemistry, and then to molecular biology, genomics and clinical medicine; he fearlessly explores and constantly innovate, and eventually made creative contribution in relevant emerging interdisciplinary subjects.
